was speaking to a friend in hospitality who said something that stayed with me: the most important part of a restaurant nowadays isn’t the food, but how people are treated and how you feel from the moment you sit down.
even if the food isn’t that great, a good experience is remembered.
nothing new, perhaps, but it got me thinking about two words that have been on my mind a lot: human connections and experiences.
as machines are now able to do most tasks and automation is at the core of everything, what remains is people’s experiences and connections.
how experiences are crafted and curated and the connections made within those are what people remember the most and therefore talk about.
i find this to be quite similar with exhibitions: there is no real need to go to an exhibition as the art can be seen online, but when people show up its usually to enhance that with an experience of meeting someone, talking to the artist, attending a specific event etc.
i think crafting spaces for meaningful connection and meaningful experiences will matter more than any product or service in itself

a few personal thoughts on zero 10 at Art Basel Miami
firstly, what a week...from someone who has been "interacting" with crypto/digital art since 2019, it feels pretty special to see the incredible energy around zero 10 from the very first day.
needless to say, we were definitely the cool kids of the fair, and I don't mean it in an exclusive way; I mean it in the way the audience is excited to see something fresh, to interact, to meet the artists in person, to print receipts, to make the laundry, to dance in front of a work, and the list goes on.
one of the special things about this space and about the blockchain as a backbone of it, is the potential to be an active participant in the process of both experiencing and transacting with the art. the art comes to life and the more traditional way of looking at art on walls becomes immediately less interesting.
i've often referred to the idea of an expanded art world, which i think explains well where we stand in context to the contemporary art world as a whole and to how this past week shaped up as well.
the hard work of all the galleries, artists, curators, collectors, helpers, installers, and staff is to be celebrated, as it really does take a village!
congratulations to @eli_schein for enabling this all and curating a space which showcased different angles of our expanded art world in a 360 way, and to @redbeardnft for holding all the threads together all the time and being a mascot for us.
having said this, we haven't made it because we are at Art Basel; i believe we had made it long before this, this was a very good way to show "the outside world" what we are about.
lastly, one of the most special feelings for me, and probably what differentiates us as well, is knowing we are not in competition with each other; we are wanting to win together...the energy on the zero 10 floor was emanating that deeply, and that is special.
there is still a ton of work to be done: more galleries to be included, more artists to showcase, more education to be done, and so on, but this is a very, very good start.
so with this, congratulations to all the galleries and artists, we killed it 💟
