There are so many myths and misconceptions about Tesla's AI3 cars. a few important points: — AI3 is not obsolete or unsupported. Tesla will continue to support it with software and possibly even hardware updates if necessary — AI3 cars today can do almost everything AI4 cars can do, although of course it's not the latest software — Tesla plans to ship FSD 14 lite for AI3 in 2026 — Tesla has never said they are not going to support AI3 cars or give up on making them Robotaxis — Tesla needs to focus on getting driverless working at all first. Then they will backport to older vehicles. The key is to get to driverless as fast as possible. — People who buy newer cars are sometimes going to get newer features first. That's ok. There has to be some incentive to buy a new car. Selling millions of cars is challenging. If you don't want to get a new car, just wait a little longer to get some of the newest features. Unlike other car brands where old cars *never* get new features, Tesla will actually keep updating even a car that's years old — Having to wait months for features the new cars have already sucks, but the FSD running on these older AI3 cars is still better than any other ADAS on the market by far. And it will get much, much better. — If you can afford it, support the development of FSD by buying a new car. It's a great time to buy an AI4 car. — Tesla is offering free FSD transfer during this period so that you don't have to pay for the FSD option twice if you bought it on your old car
